Apple is preparing one of its biggest upgrades to Siri in more than a decade. According to recent reports, the company is planning to integrate Google’s next-generation 1.2-trillion-parameter artificial intelligence model into its voice assistant, marking a major shift in strategy and capabilities. The move signals Apple’s intention to close the performance gap with leading AI assistants and bring real conversational intelligence to its ecosystem.

For years, Siri has been criticized for lagging behind competitors in understanding context, supporting multi-step prompts, and generating natural responses. To accelerate improvement, Apple is now expected to license Google’s ultra-large AI model at an annual cost of around $1 billion — a rare case of the two tech giants collaborating on core technology.
